MULTAN: Mohammad Rizwan and Reeza Hendricks’ half-centuries, followed by a combined bowling effort, powered Multan Sultans to defeat Quetta Gladiators in the 11th match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9 here at Multan Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
In a thrilling encounter, Multan Sultans emerged victorious over Quetta Gladiators, ending their unbeaten streak in the ongoing PSL 9 tournament. Multan Sultans solidified their position at the top of the points table while handing Quetta Gladiators a 13-run defeat.
Opting to bat first, Multan Sultans got off to a strong start, with Usman Khan smashing 14 runs off the first over. Despite an early dismissal, Rizwan and Hendricks steadied the innings with a crucial 79-run partnership, laying the foundation for a formidable total. Rizwan’s explosive knock of 51 runs and Hendricks’ composed innings of 72 runs guided Multan Sultans to a challenging total of 180 runs.
Quetta Gladiators Batting Against Multan Sultans
In response, Quetta Gladiators faced early setbacks in their chase, losing wickets at regular intervals. Although skipper Rilee Rossouw and Khawaja Nafay offered some resistance with crucial contributions, timely breakthroughs from Multan Sultans’ bowlers prevented any significant partnerships from forming. Mohammad Ali and David Willey led the bowling attack, claiming three wickets each, while Aftab Ibrahim chipped in with two scalps, restricting Quetta Gladiators to 167 runs for the loss of nine wickets.
