Lahore: Peshawar Zalmi and Lahore Qalandars will lock horns tonight in the second eliminator of the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore as both teams seek to become the final challengers to Multan Sultans.

Qalandars are getting another shot at playing in the final after losing the Qualifier to the Sultans. Meanwhile, Zalmi battled past Islamabad United in Eliminator 1 last night to stand a chance of making it to another final.

The defending champions finished at the top spot in the points table in the group stages, winning seven out of their 10 matches, but faced a setback against Multan Sultans in Wednesday’s qualifier, losing by a whopping 84 runs after being bowled out for just 76. Shaheen Afridi’s side have now lost three of their past four matches in PSL 8.

Meanwhile, Peshawar Zalmi finished fourth in the group stages after winning five and losing five of their 10 matches.

Both sides bagged one victory each when they met earlier in the competition. Lahore Qalandars won the first encounter by 40 runs while Zalmi claimed a 35-run win in the second meeting.

On Thursday, Peshawar Zalmi knocked out Islamabad United out of PSL 8 beating them by 12 runs in the first eliminator at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium after United failed to successfully chase the 184-run target that Zalmi had set for them.
