ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Super League (PSL) management has announced a stellar lineup of 44 overseas players registered in the Platinum category for its upcoming Player Draft, scheduled for January 13.
The list features top international cricketers from eight nations, adding excitement ahead of the league’s 10th edition.
Kane Williamson
Leading the charge is New Zealand’s prolific run machine, Kane Williamson, the second-highest T20I run-scorer for his side, accompanied by Tim Southee, the unrivaled wicket-taker in T20 international history. Kiwi luminaries such as Adam Milne, Daryl Mitchell, Finn Allen, Jimmy Neesham, Mark Chapman, and Michael Bracewell further enrich the enticing choices available to PSL’s six franchises.
Australia takes the spotlight with its impressive contingent of 13 players in the Platinum ranks, featuring T20 World Cup 2021 champions Ashton Agar, David Warner, and Daniel Sams. Usman Khawaja, who donned the Islamabad United (IU) jersey in 2021, adds to the star-studded mix.
From Afghanistan, the duo of Mujeeb-ur-Rehman and Naveen-ul-Haq joins forces with England’s former PSL champions Sam Billings and Tymal Mills, bolstering the talent pool. South African stalwarts Imran Tahir, Rassie van der Dussen, Reeza Hendricks, and Tabraiz Shamsi also lend their experience to the tournament.
Seasoned warriors
Sri Lanka’s T20I skipper Charith Asalanka and the dynamic Kusal Mendis are in the fray, while the West Indies’ Jason Holder leads a vibrant group of six Caribbean players. Rounding out the Platinum list are Bangladesh’s seasoned warriors, Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan.
