PSX Loses 480 points Amid Recent Political Unrest in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a major decline with a bearish trend on Friday, losing 480.44 points, a negative change of 1.18 percent, closing at 40,323.45 as compared to 40,803.89 points on Thursday.

A total of 173,264,646 shares were traded during the day against 175,412,767 shares on Thursday, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs4.628 billion against Rs5.891 billion on the previous day.

Gains and losses in PSX

As many as 324 companies traded their shares in the stock market, whereas 81 of them recorded gains and 218 witnessed losses, while the share price of 25 companies remained unchanged.

The three top-trading companies were Hascol Petrol traded 25,154,500 shares at Rs6.62 per share, WorldCall Telecom with 21,409,944 shares at Rs1.14 per share, and Pak Petroleum traded 12,902,307 shares at Rs76.11 per share.

Thal Ind. Corp recorded a maximum increase of Rs16.66 per share price, closing at Rs238.91, while the runner-up was Suraj Cotton with a rise of Rs10.71 in its per share price to Rs153.90.

Rafhan Maize experienced a maximum decline of Rs511.03 per share closing at Rs8,410.00, followed by Nestle Pakistan with Rs200.00 decrease to close at Rs5,650.00.
