PSX Turns Bullish, Gains 122 Points to Settle at 75,206.77

ISLAMABAD: After witnessing a complete bullish last week, followed by a one-day bearish run, the 100-Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) turned back to bullish on Tuesday while gaining 122.77 points with a positive change of 0.16 per cent. At close the index settled at 75,206.77 points as compared to 75,084.00 points on Monday.

On Tuesday, 462,304,427 shares valuing Rs 15.871 billion were transacted against the last-day shares of 375,359,048 valuing Rs 16.301 billion.

In total, 381 companies traded their shares in the stock market, 174 of them registered gains, 184 met losses, while the share price of 23 companies remained unchanged.

K-Electric Limited remained the volume leader among the top-three trading companies with 40,931,358 shares at Rs4.84 per share followed by Dewan Cement with 38,491,341 shares at Rs 10.80 per share whereas Symmetry Group Limited settled with 32,850,970 shares at Rs 4.94 per share.

Mehmood Textile Mills Limited recorded an increase of Rs 26.30 per share to close at Rs 525.52.

Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited recorded a maximum fall of Rs 428.42 per share to settle at Rs 18,555.32, followed by Nestle Pakistan Limited with a decline of Rs 96.54 per share to close at Rs 7,321.28.

Record Bullish Trend at PSX 

During the last six to seven months, the 100-index oscillated both ways, with a significant bullish run particularly in May 2024 resulting in a number of records on high, by getting about 60% in the last 8 months including the last one.

Earlier, the market achieved the historic 66000 mark in December, followed by some bearish trend. However, in March 2024, the market bounced back to surpass the 67,000 mark followed by the 70,000 mark in early April. In the last couple of weeks, the market first crossed the 72,000 mark, followed by the 73,000 benchmark at the beginning of May. The recent continued bullish flow took the market first to the 74,000 mark on 14th May, and on Friday (May 17) it even surpassed another historic high of 75000 benchmark.
