PSX Witnesses Another Bearish Day, Loses 525 Points to Clase at 46,244

ISLAMABAD: After going down for over 700 points last day, the 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued its bearish trend on Wednesday and lost 525.86 points with a negative change of 1.12 percent. At closing, the index settled at 46,244.56 points against 46,770.42 points last day.

On Wednesday, 200,288,813 shares were transacted as compared to 217,852,268 shares last day, whereas the trading value of shares was recorded at Rs 8.987 billion compared to Rs 8.280 billion on Tuesday.

Bearish Trend at PSX

Continuing the last day’s bearish Trend when the market went down by 708 points, Wednesday witnessed the same situation where most companies preferred to sell shares instead of buying. Meanwhile, 327 companies traded their shares in the stock market, 70 of them witnessed gains and 240 sustained losses, whereas 17 companies traded their share without a change.

Mostly, the top-tier companies avoided buying and remained in the red zone. As precedented and like the last day, WorldCall Telecom remained on top among the top-three trading companies with 16,322,731 shares at Rs 1.18 per share, followed by K-Electric Ltd with 12,424,393 shares at Rs 1.89 per share, and Dewan Motors settled as number three with 12,107,424  shares at Rs 16.60 per share.

Sapphire Fiber witnessed a maximum appreciation of Rs 78.00 per share price, closing at Rs 1,148.00, whereas Sapphire Textile settled as the runner-up with a rise of Rs 77.89 in its per share price to Rs 1,128.00.

Mehmood Textile recorded a maximum decline of Rs 54.50 per share, closing at Rs 685.00, followed by Mari Petroleum with a  decrease of Rs 20.92 decline per share to close at Rs 1,619.53.
