KARACHI: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) clarified the status of the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, for users in Pakistan.

In a statement on its social media platform, the PTA confirmed that X’s services have not been restored and remain inaccessible to users across the country.

Earlier in the day, PTA’s lawyer Ahsan Imam informed the court that the authority had withdrawn its previous notification regarding the suspension of X services in Pakistan. This response was provided after the Sindh High Court (SHC) requested the PTA’s position on the ban.

Following the PTA’s update, the SHC adjourned the hearing for two weeks.

The SHC had previously ordered the Ministry of Interior on April 17 to revoke its directive on the suspension of Twitter within one week. The ban on X was initially imposed in February following the general elections of 2024.
