LAHORE: The district government on Friday granted permission to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold a public rally in Kahna area of Lahore.
It is to be noted that the former ruling party had requested permission to hold the rally at Minar-e-Pakistan. During a meeting, the district intelligence committee reviewed the possibility of changing the venue of the PTI rally.
District officials evaluated the potential venues based on a report by the police, after which the deputy commissioner issued an NOC for Kahna.
Earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered the deputy commissioner to make a decision regarding the PTI rally by 5pm on Friday.
The directive was issued during a hearing on a petition filed by the leaders of the PTI, Aliya Hamza and Sheikh Imtiaz Mehmood, seeking permission to hold a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan.
Justice Muhammad Tariq Nadeem and Justice Farooq Haider heard the case.
