PTI Calls Countrywide Protest Against Imran Khan’s Arrest; IHC Takes Notice

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued a countrywide protest call to the public following the arrest of former prime minister and PTI Imran Khan by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust case.

In a tweet, PTI called on the people of Pakistan to stand up and protect their country in the wake of Imran Khan’s arrest. The message expressed concern for Imran Khan’s well-being and urged citizens to seize this opportunity to safeguard the nation.

The tweet was shared by Fawad Chaudhry, a prominent member of the PTI, who also called on the masses to come forward and defend the country.

Meanwhile, the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), Justice Aamer Farooq, took notice of Imran Khan’s arrest from the premises of the court and summoned the Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police, the Secretary Interior, and the Additional Attorney General to provide an explanation.

Chief Justice Farooq directed the government to immediately inform the court about the reasons behind the arrest and the specific case against Imran Khan. The judge warned that if a report was not submitted within 15 minutes, he would summon the Prime Minister.

Imran Khan arrested from IHC premises

The arrest of the PTI chairman took place within the premises of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), where he had gone to seek bail in multiple cases filed against him. Rangers personnel, acting on a warrant issued by the NAB, took Imran Khan into custody.

The Inspector General of Police, Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, stated that the arrest was made in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust case and assured that the situation was under control.

In response to the PTI’s allegations of mistreatment, the Islamabad police stated that Section 144 had been imposed in the federal capital and denied the claims of any torture inflicted upon individuals during the arrest.

The developments surrounding Imran Khan’s arrest have stirred significant political unrest, with PTI calling for protests and the Islamabad High Court demanding immediate answers regarding the circumstances surrounding the arrest.

The situation remains tense, with the public awaiting further updates and clarification regarding the legal proceedings against the former prime minister.
