ISLAMABAD: A high-level delegation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf visited the Election Commission of Pakistan and met Chief Election Commissioner Sikander Sultan Raja here on Thursday.

The delegation included Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Secretary General Asad Umar, and party leader Malika Bukhari. They discussed the attitude of the Punjab caretaker government with the CEC.

The PTI delegation also raised the issue of the election drive and the situation in Lahore on Wednesday where police chose force to break up PTI supporters gathered in the city, leaving at least one worker dead and dozens of others wounded.

PTI’s rally

The party had announced a rally from Zaman Park to Data Darbar in Lahore to mark the commencement of its election campaign and express solidarity with the judiciary. Initially, it was said that Imran Khan would lead the rally. However, the district administration imposed a slap on public gatherings.

The violence started after police moved to the Zaman Park area, to prevent the PTI supporters from advancing toward Mall Road.
