ISLAMABAD: The leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are set to meet with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman later tonight, where PTI will propose contentious alliance strategies following the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly elections.
Leading the PTI delegation will be Barrister Gohar, accompanied by Asad Qaiser, Barrister Saif, and Akhund Zada Hussain Ahmed.
The PTI delegation aims to extend an invitation to Maulana Fazalur Rehman to join its government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where PTI secured a two-thirds majority in the February general elections, while JUI-F emerged as the weakest party, securing only seven out of the 112 seats.
This development comes after the Awami National Party (ANP) refused to engage in talks with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) earlier today.
ANP leader Mian Iftikhar Hussain stated, “PTI leader Asad Qaiser contacted us. ANP believes that we were defeated in supporting PTI. PTI came into power in KP through rigging.”
Earlier on Wednesday, the JUI-F chief said that his party will not make an alliance with any political party and will sit on opposition benches in assemblies.
During a press conference in Islamabad, Rehman stated, “The JUI-F Central Executive Committee (CEC), which convened for two days, has rejected the election results.”
Dismissing any possibility of forming alliances with other political parties, Rehman emphasized, “We will not forge alliances with any other party.”
He affirmed his party’s commitment to fulfilling its parliamentary duties and invited PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif to collaborate with him in opposition.
“We do not operate under the influence of PML-N or PPP,” he asserted.
It is pertinent to mention here that the PTI had announced Alliance with Jamat-e-Islami (JI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However, the JI had rejected the idea of forming an alliance with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
JI’s Central Vice Amir Liaqat Baloch said that after consultation, his party has decided not to collaborate with PTI, given PTI’s coalition formation with another party at the federal level.
Baloch clarified that there is no rationale for forging an alliance with PTI solely in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, indicating that discussions with PTI pertained to both federal and provincial governments.
