ISLAMABAD: Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has issued a stern response to the decision of PTI-backed independent Member of the National Assembly, Waseem Qadir, to join the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
In his statement, Gohar Khan emphasized that all independent candidates supported by the PTI have maintained communication with the party, clarifying that there had been no prior discussion with Waseem Qadir regarding his decision to align with the PML-N.
Gohar Khan warned against the consequences of shifting loyalties after benefiting from support, referencing the fate of past defectors. He highlighted the rejection of leaders like Mehmood Khan and Pervez Khattak by the people and expressed concern over potential defections.
PTI Talks for Political Alliance
Regarding ongoing negotiations with another party regarding certain seats, Barrister Gohar stated that no final decision had been reached on which party to ally with. He stressed the PTI’s commitment to a cautious approach, avoiding alliances that may compromise their principles.
Gohar Khan also underscored confidence in the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) ability to promptly resolve election-related issues, despite perceived challenges. He expressed surprise at Nawaz Sharif’s victory speech and criticized the PML-N’s outreach to PTI candidates.
Furthermore, Barrister Gohar affirmed that the PTI would not hesitate to assume the role of the opposition if necessary, emphasizing the importance of respecting the electoral mandate.
