PTI Leader Shafqat Mehmood Quits Politics

LAHORE: Former federal minister of education and ex-Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shafqat Mehmood on Sunday announced to quit politics.

He made the announcement on social media platform X, stating, I landed into politics after resigning from my government job and now I have decided to retire from politics after deliberation.

He added that he would devote his life to teaching and writing, saying that he did not take the decision under any pressure or plan to join any other political party.

He was of the view that young people must be included in politics and recalled his journey into politics as a member of the Senate and National Assembly, federal and provincial minister, witnessing ups and downs.

Shafqat Mehmood said that he served his duty with obligation and honesty and was never accused of any unethical and illegal conduct.

He highlighted his achievement during his role as education minister by formulating a single national curriculum for the first time in Pakistan and successfully managing the education system during the Covid-19 outbreak.

He also thanked the PTI chairman and the people of his constituency for giving him a chance to serve the country.

Shafqat Mehmood said that his spirit of serving Pakistan would remain long-lasting through teaching, writing and media.
