PTI Senior Leader Dr. Shireen Mazari Quits Politics

ISLAMABAD: Dr. Shireen Mazari, a prominent member of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) and former minister, declared her resignation from PTI and announced her permanent departure from politics on Tuesday.

Mazari affirmed that she would not join any political party in the future, focusing instead on her family and personal well-being.

Expressing her concerns, Mazari strongly condemned the recent riots and attacks on both civil and military installations that occurred on May 9 and 10 in various cities of the country. She emphasized the need for peaceful and constructive dialogue to address grievances and resolve issues facing the nation.

In a heartfelt statement, Mazari emphasized her commitment to her children, mother, and personal health, which she stated were her foremost priorities. She expressed her gratitude to the PTI for the opportunities and experiences she gained during her political career, and extended her best wishes to the party and its members.

Mazari emphasized that she had previously given an undertaking in the Islamabad High Court, underscoring her strong opposition to violence, particularly when it targets vital institutions of the state. She firmly believes in upholding the sanctity of these symbols, which play a crucial role in the functioning of the nation.

Her unequivocal condemnation of the May 9 and 10 violence and her longstanding stance against attacks on state symbols reflect her commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and respect for democratic institutions.

Earlier, Mian Jalil Sharaqpuri, a member of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI), declared his decision to part ways with the party. He attributed his departure to former Prime Minister Imran Khan, holding him responsible for the violence that unfolded on May 9. Sharaqpuri expressed his inability to collaborate with Imran Khan or the PTI any longer.

Sharaqpuri further urged his associates and colleagues to withdraw their support from Imran Khan, highlighting his disagreement with the former prime minister’s ideology and narrative. He voiced his dissent and advised others to reassess their stance as well.
