QUETTA: The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) has suffered a devastating blow in the local government elections in Balochistan, failing to secure even a single chairman or vice chairman seat across the entire province, local media reported on Thursday. The results of the elections reflect a clear rejection of PTI by the people of Balochistan and mark the party’s worst defeat in the province.
PTI Suffers Worst Defeat in Balochistan Local Govt. Elections
The final phase of the local body elections was conducted successfully, allowing voters in all thirty-five districts of Balochistan to exercise their democratic rights. However, PTI’s dismal performance has raised questions about the party’s popularity and support base in the province.
With PTI failing to win a single district, other political parties have emerged as the frontrunners in the elections. The Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) secured an impressive ten seats of Chairman, followed by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) with six seats. The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) both secured four seats each. The Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) and the National Party (NP) managed to secure two and one seat respectively. Surprisingly, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) failed to secure any seat of Chairman. Additionally, five independent candidates were successful, while three seats went to other smaller parties.
In the vice chairman positions, BAP emerged victorious once again, securing nine seats. The PPP, JUI-F, and PkMAP all obtained four seats each. PML-N managed to secure one seat, while five independent candidates and four candidates from other parties won positions as well.
The outcome of the elections clearly indicates that the people of Balochistan have rejected PTI in the province. PTI’s inability to secure any district chairman or vice chairman positions reflects a major setback for PTI in Balochistan.
