LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is going to stage its power show at Lahore’s Kahna today, the second this month, under certain conditions imposed by the local administration.

Today’s rally comes following a no objection certificate (NOC) was issued by Lahore’s deputy commissioner on Friday allowing the Lahore High Court’s instructions which had asked the city’s administration to decide on PTI’s request for a public gathering.

The instructions came during a hearing on the appeal seeking permission to stage a rally at Lahore’s Minar-e-Pakistan monument. PTI has been making efforts to hold rallies across Pakistan for months but has been denied permission by authorities citing security reasons.

Although PTI managed to stage a public gathering on September 8 in Sangjani, Islamabad. However, the rally was soon followed by a crackdown against some leaders of the PTI for allegedly violating the terms of NOC issued by the local administration as well as the “Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Bill, 2024”.

Today’s public gathering too is set to be staged under 43 conditions, varying from a time limit of 3 pm to 6 pm, a prohibition on anti-state speeches and slogans.

Meanwhile, PTI leader Barrister Gohar Khan urged the local administration not to create hurdles in the way of their rally.
