ISLAMABAD: Jailed former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s welcomed the appointment of Anwarul Haq Kakar as the caretaker prime minister of the country.

In response to Kakar’s appointment, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Vice Chairman of PTI, stated that Kakar, an elegant and educated individual hailing from a smaller province, possesses a comprehensive understanding of the nation’s fundamental issues. However, Qureshi noted that PTI was not consulted regarding the selection of the caretaker prime minister.

The former Foreign Minister added that not a single party within the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) seems to be pleased with Senator Kakar’s appointment.

Qureshi, the Vice Chairman of PTI, emphasized that the primary responsibility of the caretaker prime minister is to ensure the timely conduction of elections.

In response to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s summary, President Arif Alvi approved the nomination of Senator Kakar and signed the summary under Article 224 A of the Constitution.
