ISLAMABAD: During a session of the National Assembly (NA), Pakistan Television (PTV) abruptly halted the live broadcast of Omar Ayub Khan’s speech, a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed Sunni Ittehad Council, as he started his address.

The interruption occurred immediately after Prime Minister-elect Shahbaz Sharif concluded his speech, with Speaker Ayaz Sadiq inviting Omar Ayub to speak. However, as Omar Ayub began his speech, PTV stopped live broadcasting.

Responding swiftly to the disruption, the deputy speaker of the NA took cognizance of the issue and instructed PTV to resume the live broadcast of Omar Ayub’s speech.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to contest the prime ministerial election, Omar Ayub reflected on the serious atmosphere within the National Assembly.
