PESHAWAR: Pakistan’s religious political party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), has joined other political parties in alleging election rigging in the country’s parliamentary elections.
Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, Maulana Attaur Rehman, the head of JUI-F’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, stated that the recent elections had led to the theft of the people’s mandate.
Rehman said, “The elections were rigged,” expressing concerns over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) being handed over to a party directly linked to the events of May 9.
He also criticized the KP Chief Minister nominee, Ali Amin Gandapur, without naming him.
“Everybody is familiar with what type of character the person holds that was nominated for the KP CM slot,” Rehman said.
Earlier, both JUI-F and PTI had expressed concerns about the conduct of the recent elections.
Speaking alongside a PTI delegation in Islamabad, JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah emphasized, “The elections lacked transparency and will not lead to economic or political stability.” Hamdullah stressed that both parties had acknowledged the elections as rigged and non-transparent, reaffirming JUI-F’s rejection of the poll results.
