Punjab Assembly Elections: 917 Candidates File Nomination Papers for Lahore Seats

LAHORE: A total of 917 candidates have filed their nomination papers to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the Lahore seats of the Punjab Assembly.

 

The respective returning officers continued receiving nomination papers on the fourth day Wednesday. As many as 917 candidates have submitted their nomination papers in 30 constituencies of Lahore so far. According to the officials, the ECP has issued 2,040 nomination papers to the intending candidates.

 

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader Hamza Shahbaz has submitted nominations from three constituencies of Lahore as PP-14, PP-147, and PP-163.

 

The ECP will complete the scrutiny of the nomination papers until March 22. The intending candidates can file appeals against the acceptance and rejection of the nomination papers till March 27.

 

The appellate tribunals will decide on the appeals by April 3. The ECP will release the preliminary list of candidates on April 4. The candidates can withdraw their nominations till April 5 and the final list will be issued the same day.

 

Reserved seats for Punjab Assembly

 

The candidates will be issued election symbols on April 6 and the polling will be held on 297 general seats of the Punjab Assembly on April 30. The political parties will submit their priority list for the reserved seats by March 16.
