LAHORE: The newly-elected members of the Punjab Assembly took oath on Friday in the maiden session, local media reported.
The Punjab Assembly is the first house to convene its first session, out of five assemblies that went to the elections on February 8 in Pakistan. The nominated Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz also attended the session and took oath.

Earlier, Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman had formally issued a notification calling for the provincial assembly meeting today.
Speaker Punjab Assembly Sabatin Khan administered the oath from the newly elected members. Meanwhile, the schedule for the election of new speaker and deputy speaker of the Assembly will also be released. After the induction of independent MPA-elects in the party, PML-N has become the largest party in the house which has announced to form the government in the province.
