LAHORE: The Punjab cabinet on Thursday approved the Ramazan Nigehban Package to provide some relief to the inflation-hit masses during the holy month of fasting.
Chairing the maiden cabinet meeting as Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed the authorities to ensure the quality of the items being distributed under the Ramazan Nigehban Package.
Under the Ramazan Nigehban Package, about 6.5 million deserving families will be assisted at their doorsteps in the holy month, the meeting agreed.
CM Maryam said that there are 6.5 million bags and all of them have QR scan codes on them.
Items in the Ramazan Package
One bag contains 10kg of flour, 2kg of ghee, 2kg of sugar, and 2kg of rice. The Punjab Food Authority and the district administration have been tasked to ensure the quality of rice, flour, gram flour, ghee, and rice in the package, she said.
For the smooth distribution of the package, the Punjab CM has also directed Urban Unit and Special Branch teams for field survey. The special commission supervise will look after the distribution of the bags to deserving families.
Maryam Nawaz also directed concerned authorities to keep an eye on the profiteers during the holy month of Ramazan and also approved Sasta Bazars across Punjab at the district level.
