LAHORE: Chairperson Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA) Hina Pervaiz Butt on Friday vowed to provide justice to renowned film star Nargis in domestic violence case.
“Nargis has been provided the security. It is one of the heinous crimes to subject the women to torture, she stated. “It is an ordinary thing, and the culprit will be brought to justice,” she said.
Butt said, “It is our topmost priority to ensure the protection and provide justice to every woman.”
“Subjecting the women to torture and violence is the Punjab government’s redline in light of the instructions given by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz,” Butt added.
Meanwhile, the Defence police station in Lahore has registered a case against the husband of Nargis over alleged torture and threatening to murder.
The case was registered on the complaint of actress Ghazala alias Nargis, who alleged that she was subjected to violence by her husband, Inspector Majid Bashir, over a financial dispute.
The incident took place at the couple’s Defence residence in Lahore where the actress alleged that her husband hit her repeatedly with the pistol and dragged her by hair while threatening to kill her.
Nargis, in the FIR, alleged that Majid Bashir wanted to transfer the property forcibly in his name.
The renowned actress had left the entertainment industry a few years ago and was running a beauty salon. Her brother has also expressed concerns over the incident.
