LAHORE: Punjab School Education Department (PSED) has relaxed the uniform code for educational institutions across Punjab due to extremely cold weather.

The top authority for schools has formally informed the district education authorities via a letter that the decision has been taken due to the cold weather. The school administrations have been directed to comply with new instructions regarding uniform.

The letter stated that the uniform code will not be followed both in public and private schools during the month of January and February.

After the relaxation, the school children have been allowed to wear any sort of warm clothing like sweaters, jackets, caps, coats, socks or shoes instead of following the uniform code during winter season.

The heads of the schools have been directed to relax the uniform code.

The fresh order followed the closure of regular classes for students of grade one and below for one week and postponement of exams for grade 1-10 after 36 children died due to pneumonia in the province.

On Monday, the provincial government had announced a change in timing of schools — which are to open at 9:30 am from January 10 till January 22.
