SARGODHA: Muhammad Shahid, Director of Agriculture for the Sargodha region, highlighted the Punjab government’s focused efforts to accelerate cotton production in the area. In line with special directives, initiatives are underway to boost cotton cultivation across Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, and Bhakkar districts.

The target for cotton cultivation this year spans 197,000 acres in the division, with specific acreage goals set for each district: 7,710 acres in Sargodha, 2,890 acres in Khushab, 145,470 acres in Mianwali, and 41,430 acres in Bhakkar. To support this endeavor, agricultural teams are actively engaging farmers through door-to-door campaigns, providing guidance to enhance cotton yields.

Notably, Sargodha emerged as the sole division in Punjab to achieve 100% of its cotton target last year, underscoring the region’s potential for successful cotton production. To further promote cotton sowing, Muhammad Shahid emphasized the importance of launching social media campaigns and organizing farmer conventions to raise awareness and encourage participation in cotton cultivation initiatives.
