MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Russia’s new generation of Sarmat nuclear missiles will soon be deployed for combat responsibility, Reuters reported on Wednesday. As per western media reports the Sarmat missiles can carry ten nuclear warheads.

In a speech to fresh graduates of military academies, the Russian President stressed the significance of Moscow’s “triad” of nuclear forces that can be launched from sea, air, and land. “The most key task here is the establishment of the nuclear triad, which is a main assurance of Russian army security and world stability,” Putin added.
The Russian President said, “Already about half of Strategic Missile Forces units are armed with the latest systems, and the personnel are being re-equipped with new missile systems with the Avangard hypersonic warhead.” He claimed that the 1st Sarmat launchers will also be placed on combat duty soon,”.
On the occasion, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the “collective West” was fighting a “real war” against Moscow.
The Russian President has repeatedly said since the start of the Ukraine war that Moscow is ready to utilize all means, including nuclear arms, to defend its country. Reuters reported that the new Sarmat missile has the capacity to conduct nuclear attacks on targets thousands of missiles away in the Europe or US.
