MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to embark on a working visit to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday, as announced by the Kremlin.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov informed reporters that Putin’s discussions during the visit would encompass bilateral relations, the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, and broader international politics.

Putin’s international travel has been limited since the deployment of Russian troops to Ukraine. While Putin has avoided certain high-profile summits to downplay a “political show,” he has missed gatherings like the BRICS summit in South Africa and the in-person flagship G20 summit. However, he attended a virtual G20 meeting in November.

Putin’s upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia and the UAE follows his trip to China in October, marking his first visit outside Russia in 2022. The Russian president had also visited ex-Soviet Kyrgyzstan a few days earlier.
