MOSCOW: The presidential office of Kyrgyzstan announced that Vladimir Putin is scheduled to visit the Central Asian country on Thursday. This visit would mark the Russian leader’s first publicly known trip abroad since the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued a warrant for his arrest.

Vladimir Putin has limited his foreign travels since the commencement of Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine in early 2022. Notably, there have been no reports of him leaving Russian territory since the ICC issued a warrant for him in March. The ICC alleges that Putin was involved in the illegal deportation of hundreds of children from Ukraine, although the Kremlin firmly denies these allegations.

According to the Kyrgyz presidential administration, the visit is being conducted at the invitation of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov. The official visit is scheduled for October 12 of this year.
