MOSCOW, Russia: Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated his concerns about a potential conflict escalation with NATO if Western countries allow Ukraine to use long-range weapons against Russia.

Putin initially voiced this warning in September, expressing that such action could pull NATO into direct conflict with Moscow.

Speaking on state television, Putin noted that only NATO specialists, with advanced intelligence capabilities, could support Ukrainian forces in effectively deploying these weapons, as Ukraine lacks the necessary resources independently.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously urged Western allies to approve the use of long-range missiles, asserting that striking deep into Russian territory might push Moscow toward peace negotiations. However, key Western leaders, including UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and US President Joe Biden, recently postponed their decisions, despite mounting pressure from Kyiv.

US officials, downplaying Russia’s warnings, suggested that long-range missiles would likely have a limited impact on Ukraine’s broader military strategy.
