ISLAMABAD: Qatar Airways on Wednesday rejected media reports claiming it was shutting down operations in Pakistan reassuring customers that it continues to operate “as usual.”

In a statement shared on X, the airline said, “Qatar Airways flights to and from Pakistan are operating as usual, and our offices remain open.”

The clarification comes after Pakistan’s local media reported that the Qatari national carrier had closed its offices in Pakistan as part of cost-cutting initiatives.

“Recently published reports claiming that Qatar Airways has closed offices in Pakistan are incorrect,” it said.

Founded in 1993, Qatar’s national carrier is fully owned by the State of Qatar. Operating from its hub at Hamad International Airport in Doha, the airline has established itself as one of the world’s leading carriers.

The airline started its operations in Pakistan in 1994. The airline initially began operations with flights to Karachi but has since expanded its services to other major Pakistani cities, including Lahore, Islamabad, and Peshawar.

It is pertinent to mention that, Qatar Airways recently announced the resumption of flights to Damascus, Syria, after 13 years.

The airline will operate three weekly flights to the Syrian capital, marking a significant move toward regional reconnection.
