DUBLIN: Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Ireland hit turbulence injuring twelve people on board, said Dublin Airport on Sunday.
According to the airport authorities Flight QR017, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, landed safely before 1 p.m. Dublin time (1200 GMT).
Dublin Airport in a statement said the aircraft soon after the landing was met by emergency services, including Airport Police and Fire and Rescue department, because 6 passengers and 6 crew members on board reported injuries after the aircraft hit turbulence during the flight over Turkiye.
Irish media citing passengers reaching Dublin Airport, said the incident lasted less than 20 seconds and occurred when food and drinks were served.
Qatar Airways told Western media that passengers and crew members sustained minor injuries.
It said: “[They] are now receiving medical attention… The safety and security of our passengers and crew are our top priority.”

The airline said an internal probe regarding the incident has now been launched.
The incident took place five days after a Singapore Airlines flight coming from London to Singapore was forced to land in Bangkok because of severe turbulence, which killed a British citizen and left 20 others in intensive care.
According to a 2021 study by the US National Transportation Safety Board, turbulence-related accidents are the most common type in the airline industry.
It said from 2009 through 2018, turbulence accounted for more than a third of reported airline accidents and mostly resulted in one or more serious injuries, however, no aircraft was damaged.
