Qatar Gas Deal to Help Germany Meet Energy Demand

In February 2022, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine mounted pressure on the government of Germany to search for new energy sources. The latest deal with Qatar will not help the German government to get through the looming winter season.

According to the gas deal, a US firm and a long-term partner of QatarEnergy, ConocoPhillips, will buy the gas from Qatar. ConocoPhillips will send the gas to a new terminal that Germany is hurrying to finish at Brunsbuttel. – APP
