NEW YORK: Qatar has said that the world is facing several unprecedented challenges due to natural disasters and conflicts, Arab media reported on Saturday. This was stated by the Permanent Envoy of Qatar to the UN, Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif al-Thani, during a debate at the UNSC.
Qatar Highlights Challenges Posed by Natural Disasters, Conflicts
Sheikha Alya also touched on Qatar’s role in providing humanitarian assistance to disaster-hit people in different parts of the world. She added that Qatar was the first nation that airlifted urgent humanitarian help to disaster-hit people in Libya, and Morocco. The envoy added that relief was also provided to the people in Sudan, Syria and Turkey. She maintained that her country also did a lot to provide support to improve the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.

On the occasion, the Qatari envoy also highlighted the partnership between the global organization and the private sector.
