Qatar, Pakistan Discuss Avenues to Strengthen Relations

DOHA: Pakistan’s Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized that his trip to Qatar would further solidify the strong bonds of friendship, mutual respect, as well as cooperation between Islamabad and Doha, bringing mutual benefit to both countries.

The PM expressed these views during an extensive and productive talks with Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani in Doha on Thursday.

During the talks, the two leaders have discussed avenues to further strengthen bilateral ties, especially focusing on enhancing cooperation in sectors such as investment, trade, energy as well as cultural exchange.

The Prime Minister has also acknowledged Doha’s contributions to Islamabad’s economic growth and expressed his gratitude for Qatar’s continued support in different sectors.

Pak-Qatar Ties

The PM also reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to deepening economic relations as well as emphasized the potential for expanded cooperation and collaboration.  He thanked Qatar’s PM for hosting a large number of Pakistani diaspora who act as a human bridge between the two friendly and brotherly nations.

The two leaders also discussed international and regional matters, underscoring the need for peaceful solutions and mutual cooperation to address all challenges.

Pakistan’s PM also lauded Qatar’s principled position on the Gaza conflict and its persistent efforts to promote stability and peace in the region.

He also lauded Qatar’s humanitarian steps and diplomatic engagements aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict and easing the suffering of Gazans.  Shehbaz Sharif lauded Qatar’s role as a facilitator of talks and an advocate for a just resolution to ongoing regional conflicts, recognizing its efforts as significant to promoting lasting peace in the region.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister of Qatar has highlighted Islamabad’s strategic significance in the region and also expressed his enthusiasm for strengthening relations with Pakistan in line with Qatar’s vision for economic growth as well as regional stability.

Both sides also agreed on the significance of continuing high-level exchanges to promote understanding, foster cooperation, as well as identify new areas for growth.

Radio Pakistan reported that Qatari PM showed his resolve to work with Islamabad for peace in the region including Afghanistan. PM Shehbaz Sharif also extended an invitation to Qatari investors to explore Pakistan’s diverse economic sectors, including Information Technology, agriculture, and tourism.
