Doha: Qatari Planning and Statistics Authority has said that the country has recorded a trade surplus of 22 billion $6 billion in April 2023, Arab media reported on Sunday. The data shows a 3.5 percent surge over March while a 35.6 percent decrease on an annual basis.
Qatar’s Trade
The Planning and Statistics Authority of Qatar, the value of merchandise imports during April also cut down 6.3 percent from the last year and 9.3 percent from the previous month to reach an estimated 8.7 billion riyals.
The value of Qatar’s exports of gas, oil, and condensate fell in April to 18.6 billion riyals, indicating a decline of 33.2 percent on an annual basis. The data showed that Beijing and Seoul accounted for over a 3rd of Qatar’s exports in April.
Beijing topped the exports with 5.6 billion riyals, accounting for 18.3 percent of the entire value.
Seoul, on the other hand, came 2nd with 5.1 billion riyals, representing 16.6 percent of the entire pie.
Meanwhile, Qatar reported 343 million riyals worth of dealings in the housing real estate sector from May 14-18.
Earlier, Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said his country’s non-oil sector grew by 9.9 percent in the 4th quarter of 2022, and the oil sector also saw a 4.8 percent increase.
