BEIJING: The German Research Centre for Geosciences has said that a quake of magnitude 5.5 struck the region Xizang, western China, western media reported on Saturday.
Western media cited the German Research Centre for Geosciences as saying that the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilo meter, which initially reported the magnitude at 5.7 on rector scale.

Earlier, in January, a 7.0-magnitude quake hit China-Kyrgyzstan border on Tuesday, the United States Geological Survey said.
The quake was at a depth of 27 KM in China’s Xinjiang region, 140KM west of the city of Aksu. Shortly following, three more quakes were reported in the region.
