LAHORE: Quetta Gladiators are set to extend their winning streak in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9 as they take on Islamabad United at the Gaddafi Stadium this Thursday evening.
Having clinched the championship in 2019, Quetta is determined to reclaim their former glory, having triumphed in both their previous matches. Their victory over Peshawar Zalmi by 15 runs, posting an impressive 206 for five, was followed by a historic win against defending champions Lahore Qalandars.
The batting prowess of Jason Roy, Saud Shakeel, and Khawaja Nafay has been instrumental in their success, while the bowling attack, led by veteran Mohammed Amir and supported by Akeal Hossein, Mohammed Waseem, and Mohammad Hasnain, has proven formidable.
On the flip side, Islamabad United, with two championships under their belt, has had a turbulent journey in the current tournament. Although they convincingly defeated Lahore Qalandars by eight wickets in the opening match, they stumbled against Multan Sultans, who chased down their 145-run target in the final over.
The pitch at Gaddafi Stadium has favored batsmen so far, with all three matches being high-scoring affairs. Dew has also played a significant role, making run chases seemingly easier.
Probable line-ups:
Quetta Gladiators: Jason Roy, Saud Shakeel, Khawaja Nafay, Rilee Rossouw (C), Sarfaraz Ahmed, Sherfane Rutherford, Akeal Hossein, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Amir, Abrar Ahmed.
Islamabad United: Colin Munro, Alex Hales, Agha Salman, Jordan Cox, Azam Khan (wk), Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan (C), Faheem Ashraf, Ubaid Shah, Naseem Shah, Tymal Mills.
