LAS VAGAS: Rafa Nadal expressed his relief at nearing the conclusion of his career, citing the prospect of fewer encounters with Carlos Alcaraz, following his loss to the fellow Spaniard in the last match in Las Vegas on Sunday.
Nadal, a 22-time Grand Slam champion, praised the talent of the 20-year-old Alcaraz, highlighting his victories at the US Open and Wimbledon and his current world number two ranking behind Novak Djokovic.
Nadal acknowledged that while he may not face Alcaraz often as a player, he anticipates enjoying watching the rising star’s career unfold as a fan.
He emphasized the significance of Alcaraz’s emergence for Spanish tennis and expressed optimism for the future. Despite his own injury setbacks, Nadal remarked positively on his performance in the match, feeling better than anticipated. Both Nadal and Alcaraz are set to compete next at the Masters tournament in Indian Wells.
