DHAKA, Bangladesh: Renowned Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan enthralled thousands of Bangladeshi fans during a sold-out concert at Dhaka’s Army Stadium on Saturday night.
The event, titled Echoes of Revolution, was a musical extravaganza that blended the maestro’s iconic Qawwali renditions with Bollywood classics, leaving the audience spellbound.
Taking the stage on a chilly winter evening, Rahat delivered timeless hits such as Mere Rashke Qamar, Afreen Afreen, Tere Mast Mast Do Nain, Sanu Ik Pal Chain Na Aave, Dil Diyan Gallan, Tumhe Dillagi, and Jaruri Tha.
Each song was met with thunderous applause, with fans chanting for encores.
The highlight of the night came when Rahat, joined by his son Shahzaman Fateh Ali Khan, performed a powerful rendition of Dama Dam Mast Qalandar.
The father-son duo ignited a wave of energy, with the crowd erupting into dance, despite the biting cold of the Bengali winter month, “Paush.”
Organized by The Spirits of July, the concert was a tribute to the martyrs of the July uprising, raising funds for the July Smriti Foundation.
The evening featured a dynamic lineup, including performances by popular Bangladeshi bands like Artcell, Chirkutt, and Aftermath, as well as the Silsila Band.
Local rap sensations Shezan and Hannan also electrified the crowd with their energetic sets.
Rahat’s performance reaffirmed his position as one of South Asia’s most cherished musical icons. His ability to blend the soulful traditions of Sufi Qawwali with the glamour of contemporary Bollywood captivated the audience.
The concert marked a significant cultural moment for Dhaka, as music transcended borders to celebrate shared artistic heritage and emotion.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is set to perform again tomorrow (Monday) at the BPL T20 Music Fest at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur, promising yet another magical night for his Bangladeshi fans.
