DHAKA, Bangladesh: Renowned Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will perform at a charity concert titled ‘Echoes of Revolution’ on December 21 at Dhaka’s Army Stadium.
Organised by Spirits of July, a platform formed by Dhaka University students, the concert aims to raise funds for the Shaheed July Smrity Foundation, which supports families of martyrs and individuals injured in the July uprising against ex-prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
Speaking at a press conference held at Madhu’s canteen of Dhaka University, organisers said that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has graciously agreed to perform free of charge.
“The proceeds from ticket sales will directly benefit the families affected by the uprising,” organisers said.
The event will also feature performances by prominent Bangladeshi bands Artcell, Chirkutt, Ashes, and Aftermath, along with rap artists Sezan and Hannan.
A graffiti exhibition reflecting the July Uprising and an installation of Mugdha Water Zone are also part of the event.
Organisers signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Shaheed July Smrity Foundation on November 12 to ensure all proceeds are directed to the affected families.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has said that he will be performing for free at the concert to support the charity fund.
