DUBAI: Afghanistan’s electric opening batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been shortlisted for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s Player of the Month awards for June.
The ICC on Thursday announced the shortlisted candidates for the Player of the Month awards for June.
Alongside Rahmanullah Gurbaz, recognized for his dynamic performance as an opening batter, Indian stars Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma have been shortlisted for outstanding performance in the recently concluded T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies.
Jasprit Bumrah, renowned for his exceptional fast bowling, secured his third nomination after claiming the ICC Player of the Tournament title for his outstanding displays throughout June. Rohit Sharma, who captained India to their first ICC title in 13 years, joins the list for his leadership and top-notch batting contributions during the month.
On the women’s side, England’s Maia Bouchier, seeking her second Player of the Month accolade, and Sri Lanka’s Vishmi Gunaratne, recognized for her standout performances in the ODI series against West Indies, are among the nominees. India’s Smriti Mandhana rounds off the list, aiming for her first Player of the Month award following her impressive batting against South Africa.
The winners will be decided through a voting process involving the ICC Voting Academy and fans worldwide. Voting is now open on icc-cricket.com/awards, with the results set to be announced next week.
