NEW DELHI, India: Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi delivered a speech in the Lok Sabha, reciting a prayer (Durood) for Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and invoking blessings upon him. Gandhi emphasized the teachings of non-violence and courage, quoting the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) message of overcoming fear.

During his address, Gandhi criticized the BJP, accusing its leaders of promoting hatred, fear, and violence. He specifically pointed out the contradiction in the BJP claiming to represent Hindu interests while fostering animosity.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leaders reacted strongly to Gandhi’s remarks, interpreting them as an accusation against the entire Hindu community. Modi demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi for his statement.

In response, Rahul Gandhi clarified that his criticism was directed at the BJP leadership and the RSS, not at the Hindu community as a whole. He reiterated his stance that the BJP’s policies perpetuate fear and incite violence.
