Rain Expected at Various Parts of Pakistan During Next 24 Hours: PMD

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted hot and humid weather for most parts of the country during the next 24 hours.

However, rain-wind/thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.

It said rain-wind/thundershower is also expected at isolated places in northeast Balochistan. Hot and humid weather is likely with chances of rain-wind/thundershower in Islamabad and surrounding areas during morning and night.

In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, rain-wind/thundershower is expected at isolated places in Abbottabad, Bajaur, Bannu, Battagram, Buner, Chitral, Dir, D.I. Khan, Hangu, Haripur, Karak, Kohat, Kurram, Kohistan, Khyber, Lakki Marwat, Mardan, Mansehra, Mohmand, Nowshera, Peshawar, Shangla, Swabi, Swat, Tank and Waziristan.  Isolated heavy falls may also occur during the period.

In Punjab, rain-wind/thundershower is expected in Attock, Bhakkar, Chakwal, Chiniot, Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad, Galliyat, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Jhelum, Jhang, Kasur, Khanpur, Khushab, Lahore, Layyah, Mandi Bahauddin, Mianwali, Multan, Murree, Nankana Sahib, Narowal, Okara, Pakpattan, Rawalpindi, Rajanpur, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Talagang, Toba Tek Singh, Wazirabad and Vehari.

In Balochistan, mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most districts of the province. However, rain-wind/thundershower is expected at isolated places in Barkhan, Musakhel, Zhob, Quetta, Qilla Saifullah, Loralai, Kohlu, Khuzdar, Lasbela and surroundings.

In Sindh, mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most districts of the province. However, partly cloudy weather with chances of rain/drizzle at isolated places in Badin, Karachi, Mithi, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Thatta and Umerkot during the evening/night.

In Kashmir/Gilgit-Baltistan, rain-wind/thundershower is expected in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Isolated heavy falls may also occur in Kashmir during the period.

During the last 24 hours, hot and humid weather was recorded in most parts of the country. However, rain-wind/thundershowers occurred in some parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab, Pothohar region, northeast Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The rainfall recorded during the period was Punjab: Attock 02, Dera Ghazi Khan 05mm, Mangla, Murree, Sialkot (city) 01mm, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Bannu, Malamjabba 02mm, Balochistan: Zhob 02mm, Gilgit-Baltistan: Astore 01mm. 

The highest maximum temperatures noted were Dadu, Sibbi 47C, Jacobabad 46 and Dalbandin 45C.
