ISLAMABAD: Curry Pakora is a popular dish that consists of deep-fried besan (gram flour) pakoras served in a spiced yogurt-based curry. It is a flavorful dish that is perfect for winter. Here’s a simple recipe for Curry Pakora:
Ingredients:
For Pakora:
- Gram Flour – 1 cup
- Onion – 1 medium size chopped finely
- Potatoes – 1 medium size
- Green Chillies – 1 chopped finely
- Coriander Leaves – finely chopped
- Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Baking Soda – 1 tsp
- Water – ¼ cup
- Oil for Deep Frying
For Curry:
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
- Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
- Fenugreek Seeds – ½ tsp
- Dry Red Chilli -2
- Ginger – 1 tbsp finely chopped
- Green Chillies – 1 chopped finely
- Sour Yogurt – 1.5 cup
- Gram Flour – 1.5 tbsp
- Water – 1.5 cup
- Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Coriander Leaves- finely chopped
Directions: Take all ingredients for pakora and mix well. Heat oil for deep frying, drop pakora in and fry till golden, then drain and set aside. Now in a bowl, mix yogurt, gram flour, salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder and whisk well. Now add water to achieve a thin consistency. Now heat oil in a curry; add mustard, cumin, and fenugreek seeds. Next, add in dry red chillies, ginger and chillies and saute for 60 seconds. Add in the curry mix and bring it to a boil. Once it boils, simmer it for 5 minutes. Now add in pakora and simmer for next 5 minutes. Add in coriander leaves and mix well. Serve the delicious curry pakora dish and enjoy!
