Reckless Driving Claims Nine Lives, Injures Four in Two Separate Road Accidents

LAHORE: At least nine people were killed, while four others sustained injuries in 2 different road accidents in districts Khushab and Kot Addu on Friday.

 

In one of the incidents, a speeding truck hit a car on Sargodha Road in Khushab, killing 4 on the spot. The victims hailed from Sahiwal.

 

In another terrible collision between a car and a truck on Sargodha Road in Khushab, people were killed, and 2 were seriously injured. The mishap occurred due to speeding.

 

The truck driver immediately escaped the scene. Police, however, transferred the bodies to a local hospital for medico-legal requirements.

 

Road accident in Kot Addu

 

In another horrific incident, which took place in Kot Addu, a reckless bus collided with a loader rickshaw, causing the deaths of 5 people; all were members of the same family, and leaving 2 others in serious condition. 

 

The accident happened when the bus driver lost control and hit the rickshaw on Kot Udu Mianwali Road due to over speeding.

 

As per witnesses, the bus was travelling at a reckless speed, and the driver could not manage to apply the brakes in time to avoid the accident.

 

The impact was so serious that 2 people on the rickshaw were died on the spot, while 3 others succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. The victims have been identified as Naseem Mai, Saira Bibi, Abdul Kareem, Ali Hamza, and Muqadas Mai. The 2 surviving individuals are currently under treatment at Nishtar Hospital and are in serious condition. Over speeding and reckless driving have become a major cause of road accidents, causing the loss of precious lives.
