Red Sea Film Festival: Jackie Reveals His Plan to do Less Action Stories

Despite his long career and success in movies, at Red Sea Film Festival Jackie Chan told celebrities that he plans to do “historical, more romantic stories” in the future.

Jackie Chan has pleased his fans by revealing that the fourth movie “Rush Hour” is finally in the works. The 68-year-old actor shared the news during his presentation at the Red Sea Film Festival this week in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

“We are talking about part 4 (of Rush Hour) now,” Chan told the festival on Thursday, adding that he will meet with the film’s director to discuss the script. According to Deadline, the star of the iconic show did not know the director but did reveal a little about the film saying that the “script is not good” at this point.

 The first film “Rush Hour”, directed by Brett Ratner, was released in 1998. The video also featured Chris Tucker. In the film, when Mr. Chan plays Hong Kong police Detective Inspector Lee, Mr. Tucker plays Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Detective James Carter.

Speaking at the event, Mr Chan recounted his experience saying yes to his first film in Hollywood. According to Complex, he admitted that although “Rush Hour” is now considered a beloved classic, he was surprised by its business and success. “I got a phone call. [Director] Brett Ratner and Chris Tucker were calling me from New York. They are crazy. We were at $70 million in the first weekend,” he recalls. “For me, I can’t count,” he added.

 In addition, Mr. Chan also talked about his first movie as a runner for Bruce Lee, who he said he loved on the set of “Fist of Fury” and often had to work part-time so that he could have time additional costs for production. The actor also told the audience that 2022 is his 60th anniversary in the film industry.
