Regional Connectivity: Convoy of NLC Trucks Arrives Tajikistan

ISLAMABAD: In a major milestone to boost regional trade and business, a convoy of NLC trucks has reached Tajikistan capital Dushanbe following covering a distance of more than fourteen hundred kilometer, officials said on Wednesday.

Regional Connectivity:

A consignment of potatoes was exported via the NLC trucks, completing the journey from Okara and Rahim Yar Khan, Pakistan to Dushanbe, Tajikistan in just seven days. A special ceremony was also organized at Dushanbe Customs Terminal on the arrival of the inaugural convoy under International Road Transport, officials added.

Pakistan-Tajikistan Trade Ties

Addressing the ceremony, Tajikistan Minister for Transport Azim Ibrohim lauded the official launch of ground transportation by Pakistan’s leading logistics organization. He added that this step marks a significant milestone in bilateral trade ties between the two nations. The Minister assured unwavering support to further facilitate smooth movement of Pakistani trucks to his country.

Regional Connectivity:

On his part, Director General NLC Farrukh Shehzad Rao emphasized for more bilateral between the two nations and said trade under the TIR system will facilitate efficient and timely imports and exports of Pakistan and Tajikistan. He cited vast operation of the NLC in ten regional countries while highlighted the role of NLC in regional connectivity. The DG NLC also thanked the government of Tajikistan for its support in facilitating the movement of the convoy.

Pakistan’s ambassador to Tajikistan, Tajik traders and other top officials also attended the ceremony.
