SYDNEY: A new research led by the University of Sydney has revealed that doing regular physical exercise could lower the risk of type II diabetes, even if someone has a genetic risk of developing the illness.
According to the study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine (BJSM), those patients who undertake more than an hour of moderate to vigorous level of exercise per day are at 74% lower risk of developing type II diabetes compared with those who do less than five minutes of exercise per day.
Diabetes in higher risk category
Researchers also said that participants, who did greater levels of exercise but were in a higher risk category for type II diabetes, were diagnosed with lower risk of the illness compared to those who were least active and in a lower risk category.
