Rehabilitation of Flood-hit People Top Priority, Official

LAHORE: Zahid Akhtar Zaman, the senior member of the Board of Revenue and Relief Commissioner Punjab, said on Wednesday that the process of funds distribution among flood-hit people was underway.

He said that line departments have ensured an authentic survey of the flood-hit areas and journeyed through difficult routes to collect the data.

The process started by the Bank of Punjab and its 25 branches in different districts including Dera Ghazi Khan, Isa Khel, and Rajanpur ensuring funds distribution to the affected people. Special counters have been established in these branches to make the process easy.

Government provides assistance in damaged houses rebuilding

He further said that the video records and biometric data of the people receiving funds from the Bank of Punjab are being taken and the Punjab government has increased the assistance package many times. It is distributing over Rs12 billion in relief assistance.  

The provincial government was providing financial support of 200,000 rupees for a destroyed concrete house, 200,000 for a partially damaged concrete house, and fifty thousand rupees for a partially damaged mud house.

The government was also redressing the loss of crops and cattle in the flash floods, while those people were also being assisted who were disabled or injured in the calamity. –APP
