NEW DELHI: Religious freedom and harmony are under attack by the BJP government as the trend of demolishing mosques and converting them into temples in India has escalated, particularly following the grand inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Recently, an Indian court’s ruling allowing Hindus to worship inside the Gyanvapi mosque in Uttar Pradesh has heightened religious tensions in the country, raising concerns about the increased hardships and fears within the Muslim community in their homeland.

On the 1st of this month, a six-hundred-year-old Akhonji Masjid in Delhi, along with graves in the mosque compound, faced demolition by government authorities.

Prominent Muslim leaders have urged the Indian government to safeguard places of worship and resolve such disputes to preserve the secular fabric of the country. The incidents have sparked debates about religious freedom and harmony in the diverse nation.
